38 weeks

The week I spent in and out of the hospital was difficult, but there was this one really amazing moment when I was having an ultrasound to monitor the health of the baby. They wanted to check on his current stage of development, and one of the milestones they looked for was whether or not he was taking practice breaths. They used some sort of vibration/sound device on my stomach to encourage the breaths. If he didn't breath within 20 minutes, we all had reason for concern. Well, he breathed immediately, and it was one of the neatest things I have seen on ultrasound. No matter how difficult this pregnancy has been (continues to be), I hold onto that moment.

I'm 38 weeks pregnant. I look 55 weeks along. I've gained approximately 50 pounds with our youngest little boy. Every time the doctor sees me, she says, "I'm going to be interested to see how big this kid is." The estimation is that Little B will be at least nine or ten pounds. (Ayden was almost seven.) As a result, I will not have a VBAC as originally planned. We have a C-section scheduled for early next week, so if this baby doesn't come before then-- and believe me, he has been trying to push out of the tight space for weeks now; contractions are out of control!-- everyone will meet BLM very soon.

Bryan and I have a lot to tell everyone, about Ayden, about our crazy lives recently, but most of those blog entries will have to wait for downtime at the hospital next week. However, I have wanted to share the nursery with you all for quite some time. It's been done for awhile because I'm not much for last minute stress. In fact, we have even been packed for the hospital for weeks. Those of you that know me well know that I am a planner. I realize that plans can be thwarted, but I'd rather err on the side of preparation. So... you will see pictures below of Ayden's children's book nursery transformed into Little B's train room. (You can click on the pictures to see them bigger.)

We hope to post pictures of Ayden's new dragon room shortly. He loves his big boy room. It's quickly becoming a space just for him!
