At rounds this morning, a plan was developed to get Ayden extubated today. They are going to switch him over to a different sedative (he continues to be a bit too out of it), take some time to try to get that dialed in, then pull the tube at around 4 and see what happens.
I must stress this is only a plan. Plans change. There's a lot of time between now and 4 for Ayden to give them just enough reason for cold feet to set in. I have started to think they are waiting for the perfect scenario in order to extubate. With Ayden, such a thing will simply not exist. It at least sounds like they have finally realized this.
Please pray Ayden continues to do well, continues to move in the direction of extubation this afternoon, and does well with it should it actually happen.
