We just sent our baby boy off to have his catheterization and EP study. He was decked out in his Vanderbilt pjs. (He looks a little bit like he is in karate gear. When I was trying to take pictures, he kept making these sumo wrestler faces-- to match his sumo tummy-- that I couldn't capture on camera. Hilarious!)
The Vanderbilt staff has been really great. They set us up in a small room in the OR holding area so that Ayden could eat, and they are allowing us to remain here until his procedures are complete. Permitting us to be in a separate room made me breathe a huge sigh of relief because I was worried about Ayden being subjected to all of the germs in the waiting room. (Since his discharge from the hospital, he hasn't been anywhere but the clinic and the pediatrician, and no one has been allowed to come to him.) Not only have they given us this room and provided us with the tools to feed Ayden, but they also gave us vouchers for a meal. Bryan and I have not eaten all day. Since we have been in this holding pattern for eight hours (with a baby that hasn't eaten much!), we are immensely thankful for their attentiveness in regards to both Ayden and us. However, the part that touched my heart the most was when Dr. Janssen prayed over our baby. Having a believer pray for Ayden and then go to work on our baby's heart has God's Hand written all over the situation. We are so grateful! I feel more Peace about placing Ayden into their care.
