Meet Me at Murphy's

If you live in the area and are looking for something for the family to do this weekend, please consider attending our Christmas production.  As in years past, it is not a standard, cookie cutter play.  Instead, it is an originally written and produced quasi-musical in two acts, called Meet Me at Murphy's.  In addition to the music and the message, there will be plenty of  our trademark wackiness.  Check out the flyer below for dates, times, and location.  There are no tickets to buy (everyone gets in free) and it's open to all ages (no childcare will be provided).  Doors usually open about 30 minutes before the show, and there is usually a line to get in.  Hope to see you there.

The Christmas productions have become important to Allison and me.  It is a way in which we connect to our church, while also helping us feel like we are contributing to its mission and purpose.  Over the last three years, we have become a part of the "drama team" family.  Because of this, it was important that one of us be involved, despite all of the things we have going on in our lives.

So, we both made a sacrifice.  Allison took on the responsibility of having to get Ayden ready for bed, without help, for several nights a week for the better part of two months, while I traded spending those nights with my family for rehearsals.  The end result is the same as last year - I am in the play and Allison is not.

There's another reason why this year's production is particularly important.  Hours before the first performance of last year's play, Ayden's congenital heart defect was officially discovered.  The support Allison and I received from our drama team family in those first few days was a blessing the size of which I cannot overstate.  When the curtain opens this weekend, it will have been a full year since our lives took that unexpected detour.  It's an important milestone for us and for Ayden.  We are again blessed by our involvement this year, and by Ayden's ability to be around for it.
