Eating... Books

Brogan puts EVERYTHING in his mouth, and now he has begun to eat our board books... he chose Peek-A-Who?as his first snack! (That happened to be Ayden's favorite. Oops.)

American Idol

I don't normally watch American Idol. I've just never really gotten into it the same way that I have So You Think You Can Dance. (LOVE IT!) However, Ayden and I were cuddled on the couch last night, and he wanted to watch something before going to bed. I have had my fill of Dinosaur Train recordings and Thomas the Train DVDs, so I hunted on television for something that I thought we could watch that late at night. I wouldn't necessarily recommend American Idol for a two-year-old (Fox commercials are inappropriate; contestants are unpredictable; Mariah Carey wears no clothes); however, for the ten minutes we watched together, Ayden only reinforced for me what I already know about him: The kid LOVES music and singing! When someone sang well, he insisted, "Clap, Mommy!" Then he would command, "Do it again!" In other words, "I want you to rewind it, so I can watch him/her sing again!" He was completely mesmerized. The funniest part was when a contestant decided to do a heavy metal rendition. Ayden exclaimed, "Not singing! She yelling!"

We have recorded Ayden singing some of his greatest hits ("Jingle Bells" and Thomas the Train theme song), so perhaps we will have to share in the near future...

"Mama Makes Me"

This morning the thrift store picked up yet another piece of our furniture. Our sofa suffered quite the beating from Clorox wipes and the activities of two small children. Plus, we don't have room for it now that our living room is basically a playroom!

One of the men that came for pickup talked to Ayden all about Thomas the Train. (Better him than me! I can't stand the show!) Ayden was quite talkative and told the man that he was drinking his milk while watching Thomas.

The man asked, "Do you like milk?"

Ayden responded, "No. Mama makes me do it." Ayden then looks up at me with this big grin. Cue: Laughter from us all.

Where in the world did he hear that phrase??

First Haircut

Bryan decided that the puff of hair in the back of Brogan's head was getting noticeably longer than the rest of his hair, so Brogan received his first haircut tonight. We weren't sure how it would go because he can be kind of funny about noises (he was buzzed), and he doesn't like to be held still. In the end though, he handled it fairly well... as long as he could play with his sock. He DID eventually lose his patience, but he's a baby...
