Sitting Up: An Overdue Picture Palooza

Ayden enjoys being able to sit up. Since sitting up is not as much work as it used to be, he no longer throws himself backwards in protest. He has also discovered the usefulness of being the master of his own play. He can now locate toys and play with them or shove them away as he so desires. He has developed better reach and only occasionally loses balance in search for something.

Ayden's current favorite toy appears to be his cookie jar. He likes to pull the "cookies" out, just as he does with the toys in his toy boxes. He usually ends up surrounded by toys; he hasn't yet learned to put them back where they belong. He also enjoys knocking down the blocks that his daddy skillfully piles, and he has recently begun to play ball with me (i.e. we roll the ball back and forth to each other). Ayden also enjoys sharing his toys, but only temporarily; he expects you to give them back immediately following his handing them to you.

Selfless Love

Grancee made a special trip to Nashville just to love on our family. She did some things around the house, she played with Ayden, and she took some chores home with her as well. I felt encouraged by her visit!

Musically Inclined

Ayden already dances well. He boogies to Imagination Movers... and just about any other tunes he hears. He loves to play the drums and the piano, and he makes motions like he is strumming the guitar. He also has learned to clap, and he'll do it as imitation, as joyful display, or as response to music.
Ayden better be able to sing like his daddy; otherwise, he's in trouble. He doesn't know that I don't sing well, and he acts like my renditions of "Amazing Grace," "I Love You, Lord," and "Jesus Loves Me" are lovely enough to fall asleep to. One day he will put his hands over his ears and beg me to stop singing. Until then... "Triceratops with three long horns, a beak like a parrot, and frill where his neck iiiiiisssssss..."
